Tesla Megafactory revealed, will produce Megapack giant energy storage batteries

Recently, the Tesla Megafactory was exposed. It is reported that the factory located in California, USA, will be used to produce giant energy storage batteries - Megapack.

The factory is located in Lathrop in northern California, only an hour's drive from Fremont, which is also the location of Tesla's main electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the United States. It took only one year for the construction of this Megafactory to be basically completed and recruitment started.

Tesla has previously been exclusively producing Megapacks at its Gigafactory in Nevada, but as the production of the California Megafactory gradually increases, the factory's production capacity can already produce 25 Megapacks giant battery packs in a day. Musk revealed that Tesla’s Megafactory aims to produce 40 megawatt hours of Megapacks per year.

According to official information, each unit of Megapack can store up to 3MWh of electricity. Compared with similar systems on the market, it takes up 40% less space and has only one-tenth the number of components of similar products. Moreover, this system is installed The speed is 10 times faster than current products on the market, making it one of the largest capacity energy storage systems on the market.

At the end of 2019, it was revealed that a mobile energy storage charging vehicle officially operated by Tesla has the ability to provide fast charging for 8 Tesla vehicles at the same time. The energy storage device installed on the charging car is this energy storage battery Megapack. This also means that Tesla’s Megapack may also be used in the automotive “energy storage” market.
