Geely Automobile's Xi'an plant becomes China's first zero-carbon factory

Recently, Geely Automobile's Xi'an plant received the Type I zero-carbon factory five-star certificate issued by Titanium Certification, becoming the first zero-carbon factory of a domestic vehicle company. At the same time, in view of its outstanding performance in sustainable development, the Xi'an factory was selected as the 2022 annual industrial case of the APEC Business Leaders China Forum's "Sustainable China Industrial Development Action", and Geely Automobile became the only automobile manufacturing company selected. This move is not only a new milestone for Geely Automobile to achieve its goal of carbon neutrality, but also provides a benchmark reference for the green transformation and high-quality development of other companies in the industry.

Geely Automobile took the lead in formulating the overall goal of "taking 2020 as the base year, reducing the carbon emissions of the entire life cycle of bicycles by more than 25% in 2025, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2045". On the production side, through the model of building photovoltaic power stations + purchasing the international green certificate I-REC, we can achieve carbon neutrality in electricity. The construction of the 52-MW super photovoltaic power station in the Xi'an factory was completed in September this year. After it is put into operation, the average annual power generation is expected to reach 47.5 million kilowatt-hours, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 27,000 tons.

On the technical side, use equipment with high efficiency and low energy consumption, and monitor the economic operating parameters of major equipment; actively explore technical energy-saving measures, make full use of waste heat and pressure, and improve energy efficiency.

On the management side, through the establishment of an energy management system and combining technological transformation with management energy conservation, the energy consumption of single vehicles in the first half of 2022 dropped by 12.6% compared with the second half of last year.

On the product side, Geely Automobile has built a diversified new energy technology path including pure electric, hybrid, methanol, battery swap, etc., especially the two Thor series models Xingyue LHi·F and "Thor" Chengdu electric SUV "Xingyue LHi·P" has been put into production to improve energy efficiency and continuously reduce carbon emissions during use.

On the recycling side, explore material recycling and promote circular economy and material-side carbon emission reduction.
