Our team at Pediatric Dental Care of Virginia aims to make your child’s experience here comfortable and fun! We encourage you to ask questions and seek information from our knowledgeable, friendly team members throughout treatment.

 

Dr. Heidi Brown-De Nobrega, Dental Manager/Office Coordinator

Dr. Heidi Brown-de Nobrega received her degree in general dentistry from the Catholic University Nijmegen Radboud Dental/Medical College, in The Netherlands, in 1991. With much joy and dedication she practiced general dentistry for many years in her private practice on the beautiful and sunny island Curaçao and Aruba. Dr. Heidi moved to Roanoke in January 2012 to be with her husband and with much enthusiasm she joined the team of pediatric dental care of VA. Rather than treating patients Dr. Heidi is dedicating this phase of her career into pursuing further education, managing our dental team, and coordinating and planning the day to day activities for our patients. Dr. Heidi has a passion for orthodontics and will glady give advice and referrals in terms of orthodontic care.

 

Renee Armstead, Dental Hygienist

Renee Armstead, RDH,EMT-B, has been in the Martinsville VA area since 2009. She brings 21 years of experience to Pediatric Dental Care of VA after relocating from Port Huron, MI where she gained most of her dental experience. Renee graduated from Baker College of Port Huron, MI with an Associate Degree in Dental Assisting in 1992 and later graduated from the Dental Hygiene program in 2000. Pediatric dentistry is a passion that she has possessed after receiving quality dental care from a pediatric dentist who later became her employer for 17 years. She also graduated in 2011 with a bachelor of criminal justice degree from ITT Technical Institute.

In her spare time, Renee enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. She has a new found interest in the EMT field and is active with her local rescue squad. She also volunteers with the Medical Reserve Corp of VA.

 

 

 

Taylor Clifton, Dental Hygienist

Taylor is one of the dental hygienists at our Martinsville office. She attended Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke Virginia, graduating in 2011, and has enjoyed hygiene for 4 years. Taylor has been working with the public since she was fifteen years old as a lifeguard. She has dreamed of working in the dental field for many years, following in her mother’s footsteps, and is proud to say she is a dental hygienist, Taylor also has 2 rescue dogs, Layla and Copper, that she enjoys spending time training and playing with them.

  Kristen Cockrell, Dental Hygienist

Kristen graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She has been working with Pediatric Dental Care of Virginia since August 2014 when she moved to Roanoke with her husband, who is studying medicine at Virginia Tech Carilion. Kristen is a proud Tar Heel and spends her free time pulling for her Alma Mater and playing with her golden doodle puppy named "Merritt". She is also proud to work in Pediatrics and enjoys educating children about their dental health and improving their oral hygiene.

Allyson Slate, Dental Assistant/Orthodontic Assistant

Allyson is a dental assistant and orthodontic assistant at out Roanoke and Martinsville offices. She attended the Dental Assistant training School (DATS) in Martinsville, Virginia and graduated as the valedictorian of her class. She has her Radiology Health and Safety certificate from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Allyson is also a member of the ADAA. She has been working with the since she was sixteen years old and enjoys it very much. She has dreamed of working in the dental field for many years and is proud to say she is a dental assistant. Allyson loves kids and being able to work with them everyday makes her love her job that much more. Educating children on ways to keep their teeth strong and healthy is something she really takes pride in.

 

 

Tasha Wade, Surgery Coordinator

Tasha is a dental assistant and also the OR coordinator for the Martinsville location. Tasha takes care of all the needed insurance authorizations and scheduling for surgery of our patients. She is with Dr. Brown since 2008. Tasha enjoys working with Dr. Brown and his great staff. Tasha has 2 daughters whom are 16 and 8, and in her time off she loves spending time with her family and friends.

 

 

Brandie Fox, Dental Assistant

Brandie is a Dental Assistant for the Martinsville and the Roanoke office. She attended the Dental Assistant Training School (DATS) in Martinsville, Virginia and graduated in February of 2011. She has obtained her Radiology Health and Safety Certification from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Although Brandie has only been in the Dental Field for a short period of time, she has years of experience teaching pre-school age children in both the United States and South East Asia. Brandie spent a number of years living abroad and traveling. She obtained her certification in early childhood education from Patrick Henry Community College, as well as credits towards her associate’s degree in applied sciences and she has also obtained a certificate of Montessori Learning from the International School of Montessori Learning of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Brandie enjoys working with children and holds a special passion for children who have special needs. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son Zach, listening to music, traveling and international cuisine.

 

 

 

April James, Dental Assistant

April is a dental assistant at the Martinsville location. She attended the Dental Assistant Training School (DATS) in Martinsville, Virginia. She has her Radiology Health and Safety certificate from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). April enjoys working with children and educating them on the important of caring for their teeth. During her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
